It's Tuesday....and I Just Want to Hang Out In My PJs!

I am not yet ready to wear my 'outfits to go to bed' out on the street. However, I love to walk around in my apartment wearing pajamas all day and telling myself that I look just as cool as the models in the magazines....except for the fact that I really don't because after a few hours my pajamas end up looking all mushed and wrinkly!

If I had that Louis Vuitton leopard print pajama and the helmet (and the cardigan because it looks amazing too) I would jump on my imaginary Vespa and drive around the city all day!

Madewell. Alexa Chang for Madewell. Shirt.  $200

And that's how you have to wear outside of home!

Madewell. Alexa Chang for Madewell.  Pants. $200

Rag & Bone. Pajama Blouse. $325

Tory Burch. Luella Pajama Set. $250

Victoria Secret. Dreamer Flannel Pajama. $49

Piamita.
If you like high end 'loungewear' this is the brand you want to check out!

Enjoy your Pajama Party!

Beauty & EsseX

Do you have any plans for this w.end? I would advise you to make a reservation at Beauty & Essex!
Its location: 146 EsseX Street between Stanton & Rivington St. (Lower East Side)
From outside it looks like a kitschy crapy little store; once in the store a hostess leads you to a door and on the other side is the restaurant. (sorry to ruin the surprise ;-) The food is delicious, the music pretty loud but you can still hear yourself talk, and the service is great too. The food is not cheap (but it is worth it).

The items on the Menu you cannot miss   (It's tapas style so be ready to share):
-Kobe Beef Carpaccio
-Sashimi of Tuna, Tonnato Style
-Lobster Pizzetta
-Oven Braised Chicken Meatballs
-Seared Nori Spiced Tuna
-Crispy Sweet & Sour Pork Belly
-Molten Chocolate Bread Pudding

One last detail.... Girls do not forget to go wash your hands before dinner...... (you receive champagne in the bathrooms) Pretty Cool, right?!

For Jules...

In each and every magazine of this month everything is about the Cruise Collections and I love it (and I promise to write a few posts on the colors and the what to wear and blablabla).... BUT first things first: One of my dearest friend who lives in Chicago asked me to look into warm boots for when it is going to get very cold/snowy.... (and it snowed last Saturday so this hunt is totally overdue...)
Here is what I found:

Mou. Bandeau $198
(the British brand that all the celebrities are wearing this season!!!!!!!)

Mou. Prairie. $498
Mou. Over the Knee Suede Boots
(this is the model that you see on Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz and Sarah Jessica Parker,...)

Mou. Goatskin Cowboy Goat Hair Boots. 560

Sorel. Caribou Boots. $130
This is how to never go wrong, it can rain, snow or just be cold, you are covered!
Tory Burch. Duck Boots. $325

Juicy Couture. Sarabeth Boots. $167

If you wanna go furry style.... Prada. Fur Wedge Boot. $780
These look super warm. Mukluks. $300

Tory Burch. Apres Ski Boots. $395

If it is not snowing or raining but you just need warmer shoes...
Minnetonka Shearling Line Lace Up Boot. $168

Tory Burch. $225.

And because we should always be ready for a snow storm (with the Global Warming it could happen anywhere...at any time...), these are the boots that we MUST have....
Valentino. Studded Patent Snow Boots. $645

Let's Fly!

I have really weird feet.... (such a strange way to start a post)...But due to a strange bone structure in my toes I cannot do regular Yoga because the basic postures are too painful (I know I need surgery...but who has time to stop working for 8 weeks?! Hopefully me next year... :-) In the meantime I decided to come up with a new plan: Anti Gravity Yoga! It is a fusion technique of regular yoga, pilates, dance, and gymnastics (and many more things apparently) but instead of being on the floor, you are in a hammock.

Step 1: I decided to sign up for a class at the Om Factory
http://www.omfactorynyc.com/  ($18 for a 75min class, $15 per class if you sign up for 10 classes  at a time)

Step 2: Going to buy an outfit! (I wanted to look a minimum prepared for the class ;-) I went to LuluLemon. This is the canadian brand specialized for Yoga clothes. The clothes from this brand are ridiculously comfortable, they look amazing and the quality is great! It's not only for Yoga...they are great for any type of workouts!
Here is the outfit that I bought:

 The Scoop Neck Tank. $52
Great because: There is a bra inside that actually makes your boobs look cute (instead of flattening them) and you can run and jump in the air and nothing moves!
This is the back of the tank.
The Astro Pant. $98. I put them on this morning (when the class was at 2pm) and just could not take them off because they are unbelievably comfy. Yes, I did spent my day in my yoga pants!
Oh and btw, you can flip the light grey part to hide the higher part of your tushy.
Stride Jacket Brushed. $128. It's more of a hoodie. What I love about it: its length (it is very long) and the hand warmer. It is perfect to go to and come back from the gym.
And the back of it.
Cheaper than buying a bottle of Evian every time.
(I realized that I actually forgot it once I got to the class and ended up buying a bottle of water...duh)
But I still believe that I will save money!

Check out their online store  http://www.lululemon.com/

Step 3: Going to the Class. The Om factory is located on 37th street between 7th and 8Ave on the 17th floor, and is a very peaceful place. They ask you to take off your shoes and socks as well as all of your jewelry (not to rip the hammocks). And then you do all of these fun exercises that make you work out, sometimes without even you realizing it, because the hammock supports you. These hammocks make a lot of exercises, that would normally be very uncomfortable/painful to do on a mat, seem easy and enjoyable.
I found a video about Anti Gravity Yoga with Christopher Harrison (the creator of this type of Yoga)

I want to hear about your experience with Anti Gravity Yoga (as it is still pretty new, some countries do not offer any locations to practice this type of yoga) but I would not be surprised to see them appearing everywhere very soon. Here is a website where you can find all the locations for AG Yoga worldwide → http://www.antigravityyoga.com/locations.aspx

Cooking Time with Charly

I always wonder how there can be so many restaurants in NYC...Answer: New Yorkers do not use their kitchens! (this includes me...). Why? because they are TINY.
However, there comes a time when going to the restaurant and ordering in aren't fun anymore; and all you want to do is eat something that you made at home. But then comes the question: What are we going to eat tonight ? "Euh...Blank". When you have been used to choosing from hundreds of menus for so many months, it is hard to think of something... That's when a cook book comes in handy. I have a few of them at home, but they are all way too sophisticated for my cooking level... (in my defense they didn't look that hard when I was looking at them in the store)
A few days ago I went to Williams Sonoma  ( http://www.williams-sonoma.com/) in my quest to find THE cook book, and I did found it! Tonight was the first time I used it, and except for the fact that my kitchen looked like a murder scene when I was done cooking, dinner was a huge success. Four people ate the food I made...and no one is sick (yet), and all of them even admitted that everything was delicious.
I have to give all the credit to Yvette Van Boven and her book "Home Made". She teaches you everything you need to be able to do on your own; such as liqueurs, jams, ice creams (without a machine), and plenty of great dishes from breakfast to deserts. The descriptions are all wonderfully done, the pictures will make you want to eat the pages of the book, the recipes are easy and delicious! And one important point: you do not need a million different ingredients and hundreds of sophisticated appliances to be able to redo what's in the book.

Home Made. $40/ or $25 on Amazon

Curious about what I made tonight: Smoked Pork Chops, with Butternut Squash & Potato Salad from the Oven with Fresh Sage, and Green Asparagus with Parsley Gremolata. (it sounds fancy doesn't it?! Don't get fooled, it was easy... ;-)

Also, Yvette has her own restaurant in Amsterdam called 'Aan de Amstel'; and if you are like me and cannot go there now, check her website  http://www.yvettevanboven.com/

Let me know what recipes you are going to try!
